Abstract Or Scope
The bulk of the papers relate to Hill's published works, forming a comprehensive record of his literary career. There is research material, notebooks, manuscript and typescript drafts, galley and page proofs, correspondence and letters from readers. Major correspondents are Rosemary Creswell (Hill's agent), Max Harris and the numerous publishers with whom Hill dealt. There is a small group of drafts of unpublished short stories, plays and poems and cutting books containing copies of newspaper and journal articles by and about Hill, including reviews of his books.MS Acc12.120 comprises typescript manuscripts, proofs, drafts, outlines, story files, research notes, diaries, ephemera, posters and correspondence relating to Anthony Hill's publications, primarily "Animal Heroes", "Captain Cook's Apprentice" and "The Story of Billy Young".

Abstract Or Scope
This collection comprises papers that document West's life and career over a substantial period of time. A large group of the papers relate to West's writings and include manuscript drafts of many of his novels; scripts for plays; scripts for film adaptations of several of his novels; drafts of articles he wrote; and typescripts of speeches. There are newspaper and journal cuttings of articles written by or about West, together with reviews of many of his publications. There is also correspondence relating to publication of West's book and also certificates and significant literary awards he received. Other correspondence includes letters between West and his friend G. Emmett Cardinal Carter, Archbishop Emeritus of Toronto, letters to West from Alfred Hitchcock, Estee Lauder, Pat[ricia] Nixon, HM Queen Frederica of Greece, and Miles, Duke of Norfolk and carbon copies of West's letters to Father Tony Glynn in Japan. Also included are condolences received by West's family on his death in 1999.

There is also research material, drafts and typescripts relating to A new Britannia (1975), Social sketches of Australia, 1888-1975 (1978), The black swan of trespass (1979), Gone tomorrow (1982), Social sketches (1991), Tokyo world (1991), Japan to the rescue (1991), Tom Roberts (1996), Suspect history (1997), Temper democratic (1998) and The essence of capitalism (2002). The collection also includes papers relating to McQueen's activities as a visiting lecturer and to the 1998 exhibition and conference "Typically? The papers in MS 958 comprise letters and cards of Barbara Hanrahan, a typescript titled "The world you are walking upon: a tribute to Barbara Hanrahan" and photocopies of articles on Hanrahan, including her orbituary. In her letters, Hanrahan discusses her writings, including Flawless Jade, her art, people they know and Carmel Bird's writings. Also included are papers relating to The Penguin century of Australian stories, which was edited by Bird and published by Penguin in 2000. They mostly comprise correspondence, biographical notes and permission to publish forms received from authors approached about contributions to the anthology (15 boxes, 1 large folio box).
