Abstract Or Scope
This collection comprises papers spanning the early years and working career of Dr Lowitja O'Donoghue AC CBE DSG, advocate for Australian First Nations people. Much of the collection relates to Dr O'Donoghue's senior roles as chair of Aboriginal Hostels, chair of the Aboriginal Development Commission and of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC). There are reports, papers and correspondence relating to Dr O'Donoghue's extensive and varied involvement in associations and movements for Indigenous health welfare and human rights. There are also biographical papers, photographs, published books and articles, notebooks and diary schedules, loose transcripts and a boxed 3-volume collection of speeches. Also included are commemorative and personal objects from Dr O'Donoghue, such as torches and tracksuits from the Olympics and ParaOlympics, her wedding dress and decorations, as well as plaques of appreciation, honours and awards.

This collection comprises a large group of correspondence, both to and from Northcote Deck, mostly relating to his time with the South Seas Evangelical Mission (SSEM). His letters out contain detailed descriptions of his day-to-day life and issues arising in the Solomon Islands at that time. There is also a large group of Northcote Deck's writings including published and typescript versions of many of his articles, mostly intended for publication in Not in Vain, the SSEM journal, copies of his published books and drafts of a book on the Solomon Islands. Other material includes Queensland Kanaka Mission annual reports; issues of Not in Vain; and notebooks and loose pages of notes, most of a religious nature. The subject of the photographic material in the collection is mainly life and people in the Solomon Islands and is in the form of black and white photographs; black and white glass negatives, including family photographs taken by Harold Cazneaux; and coloured glass slides, used by Northcote Deck for presentations in Australia, England and Canada.

Included are images of social distancing restrictions, public health signage, an empty Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport, empty Sydney streets, and people queuing to get tested for COVID-19 in Sydney, New South Wales. The collection also includes a range of anti-lockdown and anti-vaccine mandate protests. The protest images include photographs of speakers, the 'Convoy to Canberra' protest in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, and the 'World Wide Freedom Day Rally' in Sydney, New South Wales.

This collection comprises various documents related to the founding of Mental Health First Aid Australia (MHFA) and the dissemination of mental health first aid training to other countries including Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, Canada, USA, China and New Zealand. The collection covers the period from 1999 to 2019 and includes: email correspondence between the founders and others involved in the early history of the program, transcripts of interviews with the founders, correspondence with government departments and overseas organisations, photographs of key events, funding applications and agreements, legal correspondence, awards, and other documents regarding the founding of the company. The collection also includes mental health materials relating to First Nations Australians. This includes: correspondence from the Department of Health and Ageing regarding programs for First Nations Australians at MHFA; press releases relating to MHFA courses for First Nations Australians; and proposals to the Commonwealth Government seeking funding to support First Nations Australians MHFA programs. The collection has been arranged by the donor in chronological order.

This collection comprises handwritten diary entries by June Alexander, who grew up on a dairy farm and wrote about family, working and rural life, from the age 12 upwards until 2016. The handwritten diaries are complimented by ephemera, letters and email printouts, photographs of family and friends, digital diaries (2015-2023) and letters (1998-2009). The personal diaries form the basis for Alexander's memoir, documenting struggles with mental health, an eating disorder, relationships, studies, writing career and aspirations. There are drafts, publisher letters and a signed published copy of Alexander's 2009 memoir A Girl Called Tim. Newspaper clippings of articles, both about and by Alexander, are interfiled in the diaries. There are two early school books (scrapbooks), with awards, newspaper clippings and other items relating to Alexander's early writings.
