The collection comprises ca. 90 letters sent to Kurt Selby (Silbinger), who left Austria and settled in Melbourne in 1939. The letters were written by fellow Jewish Austrians seeking his assistance to escape Austria following German occupation. Translations of some of the letters by student volunteers at the University of Melbourne are also included, along with Silbinger family birth certificates, transit passes, job references and unused forms and a CD containing scans of the entire collection of letters. Included in the collection are also two bound Honours thesis from Monash University that discuss the collection of letters - 'Communication By Letter: Preliminary Observations of Emigrant Correspondence 1938-1939' by Caroline Grainger and ' Analysis of a series of letters written by Austrian Jewish refugees attempting to escape Vienna during 1939/1939 to Melbourne Australia' by Anna Hacker.

Collection comprises portraits of people showing various depictions of the Eureka flag, and also of people attending the 149th Celebration of the Eureka Stockade event in Ballarat, Victoria in 2003. The images reflect the many ways the Eureka flag has been embraced as a symbol by a wide range of Australians, and the impact of the Eureka Stockade on Australian identity and social and political life.

This collection of photographs taken in New Guinea in the late 1930s includes images of an experimental amphibian Sikorsky aircraft nicknamed 'Tuppy'; the pilots and support crews at work; aerial views of the New Guinean landscape including the Fly and Sepik Rivers; and the local people and villages. Captioned by the photographer Roy Savage, these photographs highlight the challenging logistics of landing, housing and servicing aircraft in New Guinea during this time.

The collection documents the activities of the Wills family, who were pastoralists from the early 1800s, in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland and includes: letters; personal and financial documents; diaries; maps; photographs; realia; manuscript and typescript notes;Register of deaths of the Cullin-la-ringo massacre, also referred to as the Wills Tragedy; writings, publications, research material and a family tree of Edward Wills. Much of theis material relates to the life and times of Horatio Spencer Howe Wills (1811-1861), pastoralist and politician, and his son Thomas Wentworth Wills (1835-1880), footballer and cricketer, who played a significant role in the development and establishment of Australian Rules Football.

MS 8429 contains material on Blubber Head Press and Dan Sprod's career as a librarian at both the National Library of Australia and the Morris Miller Library at the University of Tasmania, and author and editor of numerous books. There are also papers relating to his professional and research interests, including Tasmanian Art Advisory Board, Tasmanian Historical Research Association, Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts and the Taxation Incentives for the Arts Scheme. The papers, arranged into 14 series, include correspondence, research material, notes, handwritten drafts, typescripts, financial papers, minutes of meetings and reports.MS Acc07.077 comprises a letter from Ira Raymond, of the Australian Consulate, New York, to Dan Sprod dated 31 October, 1956.MS Acc10.033 comprises papers reflecting Sprod's roles as publisher and writer. They include: correspondence relating to books published by Blubber Head Press and books written by Sprod, together with Sprod's research, grant applications and speaking engagements; draft proofs of various publications; and business records. Publication titles represented in the papers include: Major Mitchell's map 1834: the saga of the survey of the nineteen counties, by Alan E.J. Andrews (1992); A salute to watercolour, by Max Angus (1996); Sprod's The usurper: Jorgen Jorgenson and his turbulent life in Iceland and Van Diemen's Land 1780-1841 (2001); and his Leichhardt's expeditioners: in the Australian wilderness 1844-1845 (2006). In addition there are papers relating to the Ludwig Leichhardt Expedition Exposition in Queensland in 2004.MS Acc22.018 includes research notebooks for Dan Sprod's various publications, appointment diaries covering the period 1960 to 2018, and correspondence. Correspondents include other National Library of Australia staff members Mollie Thomson, Charles Dornbusch and Ira Raymond. The collection also includes one small notebook related to Sprod's move with his wife and three young sons to take up the position in the Australian Consulate General office in New York.

Papers of Ray Aitchison, 1945-2017

This collection comprises Aitchison's diaries, letters, book reviews, press clippings, photographs, short stories, publications and a play. Included are Aitchison's drafts and memoirs titled "Memoirs: interviews with politicians" (undated), "Memoirs: one of Packer's boys" (undated), "Memoirs: lobbying for the rag trade" (undated). The collection also includes papers and correspondence between the Australian Confederation of Apparel Manufacturers (ACAM) and the Tariff board such as draft reports, newsletters and letters dating back to 1964, and during Aitchison's time working with trade and commerce, up until 1985. Also included are three editions of the Wings magazine containing Aitchison's three-part article on the 1927 Dole air race. Other items in this collection are: two letters from Kylie Tennant, a letter to Aitchison from Senator Steele Hall, a hand typed statement by Arthur Calwell for the press gallery regarding church and politics, photographs of politicians and a manuscript for a "political school book".
