The collection comprises ca. 90 letters sent to Kurt Selby (Silbinger), who left Austria and settled in Melbourne in 1939. The letters were written by fellow Jewish Austrians seeking his assistance to escape Austria following German occupation. Translations of some of the letters by student volunteers at the University of Melbourne are also included, along with Silbinger family birth certificates, transit passes, job references and unused forms and a CD containing scans of the entire collection of letters. Included in the collection are also two bound Honours thesis from Monash University that discuss the collection of letters - 'Communication By Letter: Preliminary Observations of Emigrant Correspondence 1938-1939' by Caroline Grainger and ' Analysis of a series of letters written by Austrian Jewish refugees attempting to escape Vienna during 1939/1939 to Melbourne Australia' by Anna Hacker.

Ralph Slatyer had a long association with the CSIRO and the Australian National University and was actively involved in many research and official organisations and committees. Much of the work would be recorded on ANU and official files. The papers that he retained mainly relate to some of his activities toward the end of his career.

This collection comprises mainly scores of musical compositions by Monk, the bulk of which relate to her two professionally produced musical comedies of the 1930s, Collits' Inn and The cedar tree. There are also compositions based on poems of Henry Lawson and Henry Kendall and a small amount of correspondence relating to her professional career. Correspondents include Angus and Robertson, the Australian Broadcasting Commission, Howard Carr, Fred Kendall (son of Henry Kendall), Katharine Susannah Prichard and Colin Roderick.

The papers consist of correspondence, reports, plans, specifications, and newspaper-cutting books, photograph albums, official publications and issues of journals. They document Bunning's early work as an architectural writer, records of the architectural firm of Bunning and Madden (1945 and 1976) and papers relating to the official inquiries on planning matters that Bunning undertook in the last ten years of his life. Of special interest are the papers relating to the design and construction of the National Library building, which Bunning regarded as his greatest achievement.

Papers assembled by Dudley Longmuir relating mainly during his appointments as Senior Medical Officer with the Commonwealth Rehabilitation Service, Victorian Department of Social Services (1949-1962) and Principal Medical Officer (1962-1974) with the Commonwealth Department of Social Services. The papers include correspondence, reports, articles, minutes, subject files, notes, conference papers and photographs which relate broadly to rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation and rehabilitation centres in Australia and the United Kingdom in the three decades following the second world war. There is also material relating to Longmuir's association with the Australian Council for Rehabilitation of the Disabled.
