Abstract Or Scope
Printed materials in the PROMPT collection include programs and printed ephemera such as brochures, leaflets, tickets, etc. Theatre programs are taken as the prime documentary evidence of a performance. The list is based on imperfect holdings, and is updated as gaps in the Library's holdings are filled. Unless otherwise stated, all entries are based on published programs in the PROMPT collection.

The collection consists of miscellaneous papers of Kenneth Binns, mostly written or acquired after he retired as the Commonwealth Parliamentary Librarian and National Librarian in 1947. They include letters, notes, official documents, newspaper cuttings, photographs and a few publications. In addition, there are papers of Joan Binns relating to the life of her father and the history of the National Library, in particular letters of Andrew Osborn and drafts of an unpublished biography of Kenneth Binns by Osborn.

Material in the Geography and Travel ephemera collection covers significant information about the geography, history, and tourist activities of places in Australia, its Antarctic and island territories. This includes geographical features, national parks and reserves, regions, cities, towns, buildings and other man-made structures. The collection includes advertising material, pamphlets, price lists, tokens, area and accommodation guides, brochures, postcards, stickers, labels and tickets.

The cuttings are mostly from the South Australian Register and the Advertiser. Subjects include: Australian governorships; parliamentary proceedings; vice-regal social events; Freemasonry; review of the defence forces; travels in Australia; and departure of Kintore from South Australia.

The collection documents the life of Joyce Scarlett (nee Melville) including: her time at Sydney University in the 1930's, where she was active in student politics; her work as a teacher of English (by correspondence) to newly arrived immigrants; and her career as a broadcaster and scriptwriter for the Australian Broadcasting Commission in New South Wales and Western Australia. The collection comprises correspondence, ABC radio scripts, photographs, diary extracts and notebooks from the 1950's relating to interior design, cooking and catering. An itemized list is housed with the collection material.

The collection primarily relates to Boyd's dancing career, particularly his involvement with the ballet companies Ballet Rambert and Borovansky Ballet. Items include family letters and personal correspondence; programs, press cuttings and books relating to Ballet Rambert, Borovansky Ballet and other events and performances; photographs; autobiographical material; obituaries and tributes to Boyd, Dame Marie Rambert, Paula Hinton and Walter Gore. The collection also comprises two suitcases that belonged to Charles Boyd. The suit cases travelled with Charles Boyd throughout his career, as evidenced by the unique stickers and luggage tags attached. Suitcase one contains a luggage tag and stickers adhered on the top. Handwritten on the luggage tag is "Mr C. Boyd. J.C.W. Theatre Ltd". Stickers adhered to the top of the suitcase include Ballet Rambert, Fullers Theatre Melbourne, and Fuller-Carroll Theatres Australia, New Zealand. Suitcase two contains a tag handwritten with "Letters from London while at Royal College 1932-5. Also during of voyage on P O "Corfu"".
