Abstract Or Scope
The collection comprises a biography of Dudley George Tong (1887-1973), an Australian of Chinese heritage, who served in World War I, 21 Battalion AIF and was later committed to Mayday Hills Asylum in Beechworth for over 40 years. The biography was created by Eileen Clark on behalf of the Beechworth Cemetery Trust, who sought an application to the Department of Veteran Affairs for Tong's grave to be marked to commemorate his war service. The biography includes details of Tong's family and medical history and his military service plus a photograph of his headstone.

A collection of diaries and log books providing a daily account of life on Macquarie Island, during Sir Douglas Mawson's expedition to Antarctica, 1911-1914. They include Leslie Russell Blake's handwritten official diary, January 1912-October 1913; four of Harold Hamilton's biological log books, 1 January 1912 to 30 May 1913, with daily entries; a four-page typed manuscript by Arthur John Sawyer (Macquarie Island senior wireless operator 1912) concerning disturbance to radio communications between Macquarie Island, Adelie Island and other stations; a four-page typed and annotated report by Mawson in 1915 on soils on Macquarie Island and extracts from the diary of Charles T. Harrisson (Western Base Team Biologist) of an overland journey on December 14th and 15th, 1911, from the North end to the South end of Macquarie Island. This collection also includes logs kept on board The Discovery, during the British, Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition, 2 November 1930 - 2 March 1931, comprising the engineer's daily reports and the 2nd Officer's log.

Personal and diocesan papers. Personal papers comprise personal correspondence arranged under the headings correspondents and subjects; sermons and addresses which are arranged alphabetically according to subject; miscellaneous items including cuttings, lectures, notes, broadcasts; photographs; diaries. Diocesan papers - these are various series of correspondence and synod addresses. The Acc22.033 instalment comprises correspondence between Bishop Burgmann and the Diocesan Registrar, Ransome Wyatt from January 1940 to January 1941, copies of seven speeches by Bishop Burgmann, including one handwritten by him, and two black and white photographs of Bishop Burgmann with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during the Royal Tour of Australia in 1954 and H.R.H. Princess Alexandra in during the Royal visit to Australia in 1959.
