Content Summary:
Llewellyn retired from the position of Director in June 1980, but remained teaching at the School till the end of the year. A typescript letter (not sent) to the Prime Minister expressing concern at the direction he believes the School will take in the future, and personal letters to Lady Casey (manuscript), and Richard Kingsland, are included in the correspondence. There is a copy of the speech Richard Kingsland made at Llewellyn's farewell, and a copy of the speech Llewellyn gave at the unveiling of his portrait in the School building. Also included is correspondence on retirement entitlements, newspaper clippings and a program for his farewell concert.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were donated to the Library by Mrs Ruth Llewellyn in 1990 and 1994 An addition of papers relating to pianist Hephzibah Menuhin (Series 23) was donated to the Library by Mrs Ruth Llewellyn in 2001.
