On 1 July 1988 the Australian Advisory Council on Bibliographic Services (AACOBS) merged with the Australian Libraries and Information Council (ALIC) to form the Australian Council of Libraries and Information Services (ACLIS). A voluntary association, ACLIS represented the interests of more than 900 member libraries and information services, lobbying governments on strategic issues and fostering national cooperation until its disbandment in December 1998. As well as supporting research projects and providing services to members, the Council played a major role in the development of initiatives and services such as the Distributed National Collection, standardised collection policies, collection evaluation (Conspectus), regional networking, the national bibliographic database, interlibrary loans and preservation of library materials.

MS 9492 comprises notes on planning process; draft plans of management and proposed amendments; correspondence; newspaper clippings, some copied, master plans for the preservation and development of the Kosciuszko National Park; Perisher Valley development plan and correspondence and planning issue statements on specific topics related to the Plan of management review Kosciusko National Park, issued by the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service.The Acc05.168 instalment comprises bound reports, articles, issues of the Kosciuszko Huts Association newsletter, news cuttings, plans, and correspondence concerning the establishment and management of Kosciuszko National Park.The MS Acc21.055 instalment comprises Neville Gare's personal collection of maps, papers and photographic materials including photographs, negatives and slide transparencies. Subject areas cover park management; history of land use; science of alpine ecosystems in Australia; role of Snowy Mountains Hydro Electric Authority; personalities closely involved in Kosciuszko State and National Park management such as Sir William McKell, Sir Garfield Barwick, Sir William Hudson, ES Clayton, Baldur Byles, Milo Dunphy, Alec Costin. This instalment also includes a separate collection of Baldur Byles, which was bequeathed to Neville Gare on Byles's death, as Gare was writing his biography. Byles' collection includes detailed reports, maps, articles and photographs.

The papers were donated to the Library by Professor Macintyre in 1999. An instalment of papers previously held by the Melbourne University Archives was added in May 2000 (series 19/31-45 and 20). Records of the Centenary of Federation Victoria Committee were added in 2003. A further transfer of correspondence and related papers was received in 2006.
