The collection comprises correspondence, photographs and biographies collected by Agnes and Joe Karlik relating to individuals and families who emigrated to Australia on the Anna Salen. The collection also includes an alphabetical list of the Ship's Manifest, a copy of Estonia's War Children: a fractured generation, compiled and narrated by Mai Maddisson, a visitor's book from a reunion of former inhabitants of the Northam Migrant Camp in Western Australia plus material relating to Agnes Karlik's father, Gustav Kovacs, who was a pioneer of the Hungarian film industry.

The collection comprises original correspondence, reports, some photos and ephemera of Bill Ford, reflecting his personal, academic and professional life. It includes diaries written when Ford was a Fulbright scholar in the 1950's at University of Illinois and University of California, Los Angeles, and his involvement with the Civil Rights movement, in particular the Freedom Ride in Jackson, Mississippi, and New South Wales, and in JFK's election campaign. Joan Ford (wife) has transcribed the diary he wrote while in the USA and the transcript also forms part of the collection. Additional records cover his international studies and research, publications and presentations from the 1960s through to the 1980s. This includes material from his time at the University of New South Wales, and working with Clyde Cameron, Minister for Labour. The collection also includes the corporate training material that Ford developed working as an organisational consultant.

The collection includes typed and handwritten letters, telegrams and telegram drafts, printed bulletins, some minutes of meetings, and related ephemera of the Australia-China Society, covering the period from 1960 to 1966. The correspondence consists primarily professional letters to and from Mr John J. Greenland and Dr Cecil H. English, who both held the position of National Secretary of the Australia-China Society during this period. Correspondents include Australia-China Society members, individuals and Chinese officials, notably the Chinese People's Association for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries. Notable correspondents include Oscar Mendelsohn, Katharine Manifold, Professor Charles Patrick Fitzgerald, Dr H. C. "Nugget" Coombs and William J Liu. Some notable individuals discussed in the correspondence include Xavier Herbert, Tom Uren, John Manifold, Douglas Copland, Rewi Alley, Felix Greene and Sir William Gunn. Topics discussed include the wool and wheat trade, tourism, visiting Chinese delegations, cultural tours and exchanges of theatre, literature, film and visual art, the Chinese education system and amateur cycling.
