Most of the papers in MS 9298 comprise correspondence, research material and drafts of The yellow lady: Australian impressions of Asia (Oxford University Press, 1992). The collection also includes papers on The male reasons (unpublished novel), book reviews and other writings, drafts of speeches and talks, official papers (relating to Broinowski's career in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) and seminar and conference papers. The correspondents include Nicholas Jose, Peter Rushford, Martin Sharp, Don'o Kim, Carolina de Waart, Mark O'Connor, Christopher Koch, John Wolseley, Harold Williams, Peter Sculthorpe, Vincent Plush, Yasmine Gooneratne, Heja Chong, Jim Angel, Alfred W. Also contains draft and published forms of Michael Boddy's books, newsletters and newspaper columns, many with art by Janet Dawson-Boddy, including Surviving in the Eighties, the Smallest Frog in the World, Annie's House, Beware the Squiggly Squish, Kitchen Talk Newsletter, and the Binalong Bugle; portraits of Michael Boddy by Janet Dawson-Boddy; letters from readers; material relating to Binalong history and residents including research, writing and oral history tapes created by Michael Boddy, and portraits by Janet Dawson-Boddy; diaries; Michael Boddy's index cards recording ideas and inspiration for writing; research files; and photographs, including a series taken in the Boddy's home, Scribble Rock, by Ben Walton.
