The Mabo Litigation Records transferred by Dr Bryan Keon-Cohen AM QC arise from the litigation conducted in both the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia. They comprise a Statement of Facts by the Plaintiffs, wills, land transactions, court transcripts, exhibits, pleadings, applications, witness statements, submissions, correspondence, memoranda and research material. They have been arranged into volumes in broad chronological order. Many of the papers are in copy format, especially the research materials.

The collection consists chiefly of letters from various correspondents, including Kate Baker's letters to A.K. Wilson and Margaret Boyd; Joseph Furphy's letters to his mother, William Cathels, Kate Baker and A.G. Stephens. Also included are drafts of brief biographical sketches of various Australian writers called Silhouettes by Kate Baker, and prose and poetry - published and unpublished - by Joseph Furphy. Press cuttings, printed material and photographs complete the collection.

The collection spans the years 1907-1971 and covers most facets of Copland's immensely active academic and public life. The correspondence is especially valuable. Most of the letters are accompanied by typed copies of Copland's replies and were received from a great variety of correspondents. Secondly, for the 1920s and 1930s, almost every significant Australian economist is represented. Thirdly, Copland's interest in all of the social sciences and participation in organisations with similar interests are documented principally via the correspondence.

The bulk of the papers relate to the work of W.J. Edwards as a Minister of the Church of England and include papers from his appointments as Rector of St Augustine's, Bulli St James Church, Sydney; sermons spanning forty years; subject files and newspaper cuttings on issues of religion; and Forms of Service for religious and commemorative services. A smaller group of papers relate to his World War I service; his time as Headmaster of Canberra Grammar School; his appointment as Chief of the UNICEF Mission to Greece, Italy and Malta and a visit to the United States of America as a delegate to the 9th International Conference of the Institute of Pacific Relations.

Includes papers on establishment of tea plantations in Queensland, diaries and notebooks relating to tea planting, crop yields, field notebooks relating to tea planting and other notebooks, school notebooks and certificates, Buddhist palm-leaf manuscript written in old Singhalese script on the subject of astrology, press cuttings, printed items, photographs, notes and articles on tea, personal and business diaries, family and personal letters and some papers of the Scottish Tea and Lands Co., Ceylon.
